Ernst Hassebrauk (1905-1974), painter and graphic artist from Dresden, studied there and in Leipzig, where he became a master student of Willi Geiger. Under the Nazis he was banned from exhibiting. In 1947 he was appointed professor. Among his students was Werner Tübke. ”Painter and Death, ” etching with drypoint on copperplate paper, signed by his widow at lower right, Wv 100, 23 x 19 cm, sheet measures 39 x 32 cm.
