A very interesting 17-piece bundle with documents, letters, autographs and medal award certificates (ca. 1884-1897) from and to the German diplomat, Prussian envoy, minister and consul Ludwig Raschdau (1849-1943), who was, among other things, consul and vice-consul in Smyrna, Smyrna, Smyrna and Smyrna. Consul and Vice-Consul in Smyrna, Havana and Alexandria and from 1886 a member of Bismarck’s staff and advisor to the Foreign Office until 1894, incl. imperial certificate of appointment as a lecturing councillor in the Foreign Office with signature of the Emperor and Bismarck (1890), enclosed. Letter (double sheet 22.5 x 14 cm, 2 pages written on) from Raschdau dated 16.10.1897 to His Majesty, in which he asks him to refrain from appointing him as Prussian envoy to Portugal. He also received a decree from the Spanish King Alfonso XII, who had appointed him as German consul in Havana (1884), various medals, including one from the Russian Tsar Alexander III (1893). Tsar Alexander III (1893, Order of St. Stanislaus 2nd class), the Ital. King Umberto I (1888 and 1892), Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria (1888) and various German princes, including those of Schwarzenburg (1896), Baden (1888), Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach (1897) and King of Saxony (1889), farewell certificate from military service in the Kingdom of Saxony (1885), up to 37 x 25 cm.- Provenance: Hans Behnen Collection, Berlin
