A large, magnificent so-called ‘French Vase’, KPM Berlin, 1830s, designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781 – 1841) around 1830, ovoid body on a round foot, the side handles ending in rosettes, the front with a portrait of King Frederick William III of Prussia (1770-1840), after the portrait by Franz Krüger (1797-1857) in uniform with medals and epaulettes, including the Star of the Order of the Black Eagle.including the Star of the Order of the Black Eagle and the Iron Cross, the Prussian eagle framed by a wreath of oak leaves in gold on the reverse, azure blue ground, opulent decorative gilding, on a square base, w. restored, h. 54 cm
