Emma Ritter (1878-1972), North German expressionist, studied under Lovis Corinth, among others, and maintained contact with the Brücke artists, whom she had met in Dangast, throughout her life. She was friends with Lyonel Feininger and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff in particular and moved into his Berlin studio when he was called up for military service. In 1923, she returned to Oldenburg for family reasons and remained there until 1939. Back in Berlin, her previous work was almost completely destroyed by a bomb in 1943. ”Dorf mit Kirche in den Dolomiten”, oil on canvas, signed and dated (19)43 lower right, enclosed note with the history of the painting, 60 x 80 cm, framed 68 x 88 cm
