Rare cabinet plate, Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, Alexander I period, circa 1819-1822. The centerpiece is polychrome, depicting ‘The Triumph of Galatea’ based on an Old Master model. The border features a continuous band of rosettes and palmettes. Each plate in this set was painted with a different motif, making them unique. The base is gilded and heavily restored. Diameter 25 cm. One plate from the same set was sold at Sotheby’s for USD 10,625.
