Chiarina, Meissen, mark after 1934, year mark for 1961, 1st choice, model by Paul Scheurich (New York 1883 – Brandenburg 1945) in 1913, model no. A 1004, from the series ”Russian Dancers” from the ballet ”Carnaval”, Inspired by the guest performance of the celebrated Russian ballet ‘Le Carnaval’ after Robert Schumann’s piano cycle at Berlin’s Theater des Westens, Paul Scheurich created the group of figures ‘Russian Ballet’ in 1913. The five dancers were his first and most successful works for the Meissen manufactory, a ballerina with frilled skirt, hood and two rose petals standing in a pose on a profiled oval base with pillar support, mask and fan at her feet, polychrome painted, h. 26 cm, tr.
