Naval memorabilia – Commemorative plaque for the small cruiser Emden, which sank enemy merchant ships in the Indian Ocean during the First World War under the command of Karl von Müller (1873-1923) before being fired upon by an Australian cruiser in November 1914. The survivors – praised by the enemy for their bravery and chivalry – were given the honorary title of ”Emden” in 1920. According to the consignor, this commemorative plaque was presented to the survivors.
