173
Hugo Lederer (1871-1940), ”Anna Pawlowa feeding a deer”, two-part patinated bronze, screwed together at the plinth, signed ”Hugo Lederer”. The sculptor and the dancer were friends in the 1920s. Around 1928, Lederer created the plaster model of this group with the crouching Pavlova and the timidly approaching deer (hind?), which was destroyed in the fire at the Glaspalast in Munich in 1931. Only a few bronze casts from the period appear to exist; the Berlinische Galerie only owns a new cast. The joint on the plinth somewhat loose, approx. 19 x 33 x 7 cm
