Pair of cloisonné vases, Japan c. 1900 (Meiji). Slightly depressed body with short, slightly retracted neck. Recto and verso with large cartouche. Transitory scene depicted on both vases: The first vase shows a flying eagle aiming at a pair of finches in flowering branches. On the second, it has one of the two in its talons. Lotus tendrils against a dark green background with glitter effects. Minimally rubbed, h. 32 cm each
