Karl May (1901-1976), German-Canadian expressionist who studied in Prague and Vienna. His works were shown in the Feme exhibition ”Degenerate Art” and later destroyed. After several years in Iran, where he taught at the academy in Tehran, he emigrated to Canada. ”Spinner from Isfahan”, color chalk on paper (not fixed), signed and dated ”may 51” lower left, rubbed, traces of storage, marginal defects, mounted on hardboard, overall dimensions 100 x 69 cm
