The colourfulness shown here as well as the colour fields bordered by black lines that appear in the area of the body and mind of the depicted female figure are typical of P.R.K.’s early work. While the motif of the female nude recurs frequently in the artist’s oeuvre as a whole, the depiction of a pregnant woman is a special feature that certainly points to a personal reference to the artist’s life and thus gives this painting a special status.

Mixed media on fibreboard, 100 x 50 cm, 1969. Represented in the catalogue raisonné under the number WVZ 0169. Prior to the auction, the work was freshly framed at the specialist dealer Boesner by one of the few expert and fully trained picture framers. In a multi-stage process, special emphasis was placed on the coherence between the work and the frame.
