Kalliope (perforated plate music box), Germany (Chemnitz), circa 1900. Rectangular body with hinged lid, on the lid a script inlay (”Kalliope”) with ornamental framing. On the lid a contemporary illustration with garden idyll and inscribed ”Otto Pohland, mechanische Musikwerke und Sprechmaschinen Chemnitz, Ecke Pest- und Kronenstraße”. Double comb complete and with so-called Timbro variant, original crank present, lock without key. Comes with 31 matching perforated playing plates (d. 33 cm). Slightly rubbed & bumped, dimensions calliope 19 x 40 x 38 cm.
