Modersohn-Becker, Paula. 1876 Dresden – 1907 Worpswede. The woman with the cow, on the verso two sketches. Around 1898/99, sheet on paper, signed on the lower right by Tille Modersohn f. P.M.B. T.M., sheet approx. 24 x 37 cm, framed under mount behind glass 44.5 x 47 cm, mount cut-out 20.2 x 24 cm, on the verso Sitting farmer’s wife with child in her arms (motif approx. 20 x 23.5 cm) and Birch trunks in front of forest edge (motif approx. 20 x 13 cm), unopened. Very similar is the drawing ”The Woman with the Cow” dated around 1989/99 (cat. PMB on the occasion of the 100th anniversary, Bremen 1976, no. 260, fig. 66), preparatory drawing for the etching of the same name, which was titled ”Woman with Moon Calf” by the artist herself.
