Anonymous landscape and genre painter of the 17th century. Landscape with palace architecture and view of a water landscape, in the left foreground mountainous landscape with cave, praying people and fantastic creatures. Tempera/wood, unsigned, on the reverse side on wooden plate two seals, one ”Obersthofmeisteramt H. K. H. of the Duke of Modena”, the other one uninterpreted: coat of arms a.o. with chevrons and lozenges under crown held by two winged dragons, 41 x 38 cm, parkettized, restored, in the upper third several horizontal cracks, paint chipping, upper left corner wood damage, on plaque of former frame inscribed Pieter Brueghel the Younger (1564 Brussels – 1638 Antwerp), unframed.- Provenance: North German private collection.
