Ross, William Charles. 1794 – 1860. attributed. Oval miniature portrait of a girl in red and white striped dress before garden landscape. Probably tempera on bone (unopened), unsigned, verso handwritten inscribed Fine Quality Miniature of a girl Sir Wm Ross, set in medallion frame ca. 8 x 6,5 cm.- Ross was appointed miniature painter to Queen Victoria in 1837. He became especially famous not only for his fine portraits but also for his elaborate backgrounds.
