Franz Wilhelm Schiertz (1813-1887), from or to. Schiertz was a German-Norwegian painter who studied with Clausen Dahl in Dresden. He left Dresden after the 1848 revolution and returned to Norway. Dramatically staged natural spectacle in a Nordic landscape with reindeer and a group sitting around a fire, as well as other staffage. An almost identical work is in the Kiel Kunsthalle. Our copy is possibly a variant by the hand of Schiertz or a contemporary copy. Oil on canvas, unsigned, mounted, restored and retouched, 56 x 77,5 cm
