Ernst Hassebrauk (1905-1974), painter and graphic artist from Dresden, studied there and in Leipzig, where he became a master student of Willi Geiger. Under the Nazis he was banned from exhibiting. In 1947 he was appointed professor. Among his students was Werner Tübke. ”Meissen, seen from the castle”, etching with drypoint on copperplate, signed lower right by his widow, WV 259, Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig, 26 x 34.8 cm, sheet dimensions 39.5 x 53 cm.
