Scimitar and whip, 1st half of 20th century, Persia/North Africa. Scimitar or koummya blade sharpened on both sides in the upper third, handle of dark hardwood (clinked), scabbard and handle fittings probably underalloyed silver richly decorated with floral motifs, two suspension rings, blade slightly loose in the handle, fits only with difficulty in scabbard. L without scabbard 39 cm. Comes with a whip for horsemen, probably Persian area around 1900, wooden handle with metal fittings, bumped, whip strap leather plaited, slightly burnt at the base, handle l. 34 cm
