Casket with Boulle marquetry, France, late 19th century Rectangular body with beveled corners and hinged lid with lock and key. Ebonized framed fields as burlwood veneer with ornamental brass inlays. Engraved inscription ”TAHAN Boul(t) des Italiens 11” under the lid on the edge of the lock. Lined inside with light blue silk (one spot torn in the lid). Slightly rubbed, 12 x 28 x 21 cm
