Sat, 30th of November from 14:00 pm

Post-Auction Report on the 117th Auction at Historia Auction House in Berlin on November 29 and 30, 2013

With the fifth auction, a successful auction year 2013 comes to a close, as this auction also achieved good bids and a high sales rate. In most departments, only a few items remained for post-auction sales.

Fitting for the season, a painting of a snowy forest scene featuring a stream in the evening light was increased from a limit of €1,300 to €3,600. Berlin landscape painter Walter Moras, who primarily sought his motifs in the Mark Brandenburg area and the Spreewald, captured this atmospheric scene in oil on canvas. Two paintings by Munich genre painter Karl Stuhlmüller also achieved good bids. "Gänseliesel" was sold for €4,200, and "Farmers with an Ox Cart" for €2,300.

The porcelain department also featured a wide selection in this auction. In addition to dishes and large services, figurative porcelain from Meissen, Hentschel, Nymphenburg, and others were offered. A variety of Studio-Line objects from Rosenthal found almost complete buyers. The rare figurine group "Two Playing Cheetahs, " Meissen, based on a design by Paul Walther, sparked an exciting bidding war. The final bid was €5,500.

Very good increases were also noted in the Asian objects. A round bowl from China, decorated with fish in the water and flowering branches in circular enamel painting, achieved a final bid of €4,500.

The jewelry department included a diverse range of items, including a collection of Imperial Roman and Late Hellenistic jewelry, which also saw increases in bids. Nearly all of the approximately 350 jewelry items were sold.

Consignments for the upcoming auction on February 21 and 22, 2014, are already being gladly accepted.
