The event kicks off, as always, with the jewelry department, featuring over 800 lots, including a collection of wristwatches and pocket watches. A standout item is a Boucheron diamond ring in a platinum setting from around 1930, boasting over 5 carats (starting price: €36,500). The subsequent silver objects are led by a magnificent centerpiece by Georg Jensen, based on a 1918 design, with an estimated value of €3,500. Twice that amount would be needed to acquire the large Meissen Horae group. The rare figure, designed by C.G. Starcke, starts at €7,000.
Among the sculptures is a rare and large group by Berlin sculptor Artur Hoffmann. It depicts Saint George after the battle, with the defeated dragon and a horse standing at a water trough. The moderate starting price is €3,000. In the realm of non-European art, nearly 300 lots from the Far East are complemented by a collection of over 70 lots of African masks and figures from an older collection. One of the highlights among the collector’s items is a model ship of the Bismarck, built over 6,000 working hours at a scale of 1:100. Measuring 260 cm in length, it is even fully seaworthy.
Among the older paintings, a beautiful view of the Brandenburg Gate by the Berlin Impressionist Otto Antoine stands out, while the modern and contemporary section features a large work by Turkish artist Dino Abidin. The auction begins each day at 10 a.m.
